McClean is known for his defiant attitude and hot head and the Irishman was at it again following Wrexham's defeat to Shrewsbury on Thursday night. The 35-year-old was on the receiving end of some stick from the home team's fans and even confronted them after the match. But after being prevented from getting too close to the spectators, the controversial midfielder took to social media and launched a brutal attack on those targeting him.

Responding to a video of fans shouting some explicit words of choice at him in the Shrewsbury end, McClean posted on his Instagram story: "In fairness if I was born and raised in Shrewsbury I'd probably be this angry as well cause its an absolute cesspit full of inbreds."

The loss extends further than just personal frustration for McClean. Wrexham had the chance to go top of League One with a win against their cross-border rivals but fell short. They are now two points behind Birmingham, who have played three games fewer than Phil Parkinson's side.
