Burnley midfielder and former Southampton star Jack Cork received his first call up to the England squad on Tuesday, and Saints fans were quick to have their say on the news.
The 28-year-old has played every minute of the Clarets’ Premier League campaign and helped them currently sit seventh in the standings going into the international break, with their latest win coming in a 1-0 success at St Mary’s on Saturday.
The south coast outfit sold Cork to Swansea City in January 2015 following three-and-half years at the club, with the midfielder frustrated that he couldn’t break past the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Victor Wanyama into the starting line-up.
Southampton supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on the announcement, and while one said the club “should never have let him go”, another believes he is a “better player than Romeu”.
