Sarina Wiegman named her 23-player squad on Thursday, following a week of shocking news that saw Mary Earps and Millie Bright withdraw from selection. Earps announced her immediate international retirement and Bright is continuing an extended break of recovery after describing herself as "mentally and physically" at her "limits". As such, some of the drama of the squad announcement had been lost, with Fran Kirby also retiring this week after revealing she had been told she wouldn't be travelling to Switzerland.

There were still a few spots that were undecided though, with there also questions about whether or not James would be included given she hasn't played since early April due to a hamstring issue. The Chelsea star has made the cut though, and Arsenal defender Lotte Wubben-Moy is also in after Bright's absence freed up a space in the defence. There is no room for Nikita Parris, however, with the veteran Brighton forward replaced by talented teenager Michelle Agyemang, who made a late charge for the squad after scoring on her Lionesses debut back in April.

WHAT WIEGMAN SAID
"I know this is an exciting day, for the players and also for our fans and it underlines that the tournament is coming soon," Wiegman said. "Telling the players they have made the squad is always a great moment. They will all give everything to help us make the country proud. This group is a very well-balanced mix of players with multiple tournaments on their CVs and also those that will make their tournament debuts. I am excited to see what we are capable of this summer.
"At the same time, I do feel for those that have just missed out. I can only name 23 but there are more players who have been so important to us on our journey to Switzerland. We would not be here without them."
