Now, former United defender Patrice Evra has revealed that he had a chat with legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson during the Spurs clash, where they discussed the shortcomings of the current squad. The Frenchman claims Ferguson said he would have punished his players had they delivered such a terrible performance under his leadership.

On Rio Ferdinand's podcast Rio Presents, Evra said: "The first half against Tottenham, I text Sir Alex Ferguson. I said: 'Boss, imagine we didn't press for 45 minutes. What are you going to do?' He said: 'I'm going to fine you at least a month's wages.'"
