Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has provided an exciting three-word update on Everton’s bid to appoint Carlo Ancelotti as the club’s new manager on Twitter, saying “here we go” alongside an emoji with a pen signing a contract, before explaining more on the current situation in an Instagram post.
Reports broke on Sky Sports on Monday night suggesting that a deal had been agreed in principle for the 60-year-old to be Marco Silva’s successor, although the club quickly put out an official statement saying nothing had been agreed with any individual yet.
It appears as though the Italian’s move to Goodison Park is very much on the cards though, with Romano’s update saying that a “total agreement has been reached”, and that now he will enter discussions with Napoli to get free from his contract until 2021 having been sacked by the Serie A club earlier this month.

Ancelotti would have to be seen as an exciting appointment for the Toffees given his experience, his knowledge of the Premier League having managed Chelsea previously, and his impressive trophy haul including three Champions Leagues, as well as top-flight titles in England, France, Germany and his home country.
He would replace caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson at the helm, who has led Everton to four points from two fixtures against Chelsea and Manchester United, and will take charge of their League Cup quarter-final tie against Leicester City on Wednesday.
