Lens, Roma and Danso agreed loan dealMove collapsed over failed medicalDefender and club expressed their angerWHAT HAPPENED?
Lens and Roma had reached an agreement over a loan deal with an option to buy the centre-back outright at the end of the 2024-25 season. However, the deal will not go through, with Lens confirming in a statement that a problem appeared during his medical examination. The French side are not happy with the news, adding: "The club is wondering about the deep reasons for the non-validation of this movement for a meticulously monitored player who has played more than 30 matches on French and international pitches."

The issue has caused some distress to 25-year-old centre-back Danso, who argued that no medical disturbances have ever been found in medical tests conducted at Lens or with the Austria national team as he slammed the development as "highly perplexing".
WHAT DANSO SAID
The 25-year-old wrote on X: "I am disappointed and upset about the events of the past few days and the failed transfer to AS Roma.
"Above all, I am very surprised by the supposed reason for the collapsed transfer. Both the doctors of the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) and the medical department of RC Lens have closely monitored me and regularly examined me over the past years. Most recently, I was thoroughly assessed at the start of pre-season training in Lens and no irregularities were ever found. Therefore, the interpretations of the medical check in Rome are highly perplexing and completely incomprehensible to my team and I.
"I will now discuss my situation with the responsible parties at Lens and at the ÖFB and focus on the tasks ahead."

Roma are reportedly not interested in pursuing the transfer any further, meaning the former MK Dons academy prospect will stay with Lens and could be involved when they face Monaco in Ligue 1 this weekend, while Roma gear up for Sunday's clash against Juventus.
