Former Manchester United winger Mason Greenwood scored his maiden goal since completing a permanent move to Marseille this summer.

The former England international moved to France last week permanently after Ligue 1 giants Marseille agreed to pay €30 million (£25m/$34m) to the Red Devils. On Saturday, Greenwood made his first appearance for his new club and scored his maiden goal on debut during a pre-season friendly against French second-division side Pau FC.

Marseille's move for the 22-year-old sparked controversywithin the city due to the allegations of attempted rape, assault, and coercive and controlling behaviour that he was set to face before they were dropped last year. A section of their fanbase had earlier launched a social media campaign to demand an end to the deal, while the city's mayor also spoke out against it.
