In a video message to McIllroy, Amorim said:
"Hi Rory. Congratulations for The Masters and I want to invite you to Old Trafford to show your trophy. It is really important to us in this moment. You achieved something that a lot of people thought would be impossible and we want that feeling in our stadium. So, I hope to see you soon at Old Trafford and to meet you."

McIlroy is a lifelong United fan who has previously paraded a trophy around Old Trafford, doing so with the Claret Jug after prevailing in The Open in 2014. As Amorim indicated, United are clearly keen to try capture some of his magic after Mcllroy finally laid his Augusta demons to rest. United are still in the Europa League this season, but many will feel like they are a long way from contending for even bigger honours as they have endured a dismal Premier League season.

United have three home games left in the Premier League. Should they get past Lyon in the quarter-finals of the Europa League, they will also have a home leg of a semi-final tie.
McIlroy will start preparing for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans next week, so Sunday’s home game with Wolves will likely represent too quick of a turnaround. He will be competing in the Truist Championship, a signature event on the PGA Tour, when United host West Ham on May 10.
United’s Premier League finale against Aston Villa is a possibility. However, given McIlroy would quickly need to return to the States to prepare for the prestigious Memorial Tournament the following week, that too may have logistical challenges. McIlroy’s attendance could hinge on United’s progression to the last four of the Europa League and the date of the home leg.
